ASES Funding

After School Education and Safety (ASES) funds can be utilized to fund your afterschool program. Many districts have this funding available now!

ELOP Funding

Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) funds can for afterschool programs and summer school enrichment programs.

School Site Funds

Schools receive funding to purchase supplies and supplemental services for their students. Check to see if your school has funds available!

What is Student hires after school?

Student Hires After School is a community-based and student-led afterschool program. All members of our afterschool program staff are local college and university students, commonly working towards a degree in Education and on their way towards becoming a teacher.

how do i enroll my student in a student hires after school program?

First, ensure that your school has a Student Hires Afterschool Program on site. If not, you may want to contact your principal or vice principal directly to begin the process of bringing Student Hires After School onto your school site. If Student Hires After School is currently on site, you can enroll using the signup link provided by our staff. 

what are the operating hours?

Student Hires After School operates from the end of the school day until 6 PM each day. For most school schedules, this results in the program running from ~2:25 PM - 6 PM daily (about 3.5 hours). For other schools and depending on need, we may operate at a greater capacity including from ~11 AM - 6 PM daily.

can i pick up my child at any time?

Per our afterschool program pickup policies, parents may pickup their student in any one of two pickup windows. Pickup windows are about 45 minutes in length. We may accomodate parents who have external conditions as needed, including medical reasons and outside enrichment activities as well.

is the program available to all grade levels? What about tk / k?

Student Hires After School has been optimized for grades TK - 6th. Our team is open to servicing additional grades as needed dependent on the school site.

what is a sample schedule of the program?

Here is a sample program schedule starting at the end of a traditional school day:


2:25 PM - 2:30 PM -- Student Dismissal

2:30 PM - 3:00 PM -- Supper Period (Snack or Meal)

3:00 PM - 3:10 PM -- Cleanup & Transition

3:10 PM - 4:00 PM -- Academic Period (Homework & Tutoring)

4:00 PM - 4:45 PM -- Athletic Period (Fitness & Wellness)

4:45 PM - 5:30 PM -- Enrichment Period 

5:30 PM - 6:00 PM -- Cleanup, Closing, and Student Choice


Each schedule is modified depending on the needs of the students and school site.

when does the application process for the new year begin?

Most Student Hires After School Programs begin at the start of the school year (around August). You may begin applying for our afterschool program as early as one month in advance depending on the school & district.

how do i know how long it will take until my child gets accepted into the program?

As soon as you submit a program application, our team will process that information, provide digital confirmations, and phone confirmations to confirm your status within our afterschool program.Most students are accepted into the program in as little as 1-2 days. Our goal is to ensure all of our afterschool programs have no waiting list.

is the program free of charge?

Most Student Hires Afterschool Programs operate free of charge to families. Our team works to ensure that families know which grants are available to fund their afterschool program. It is our goal to ensure that all families receive our program free of charge.
