Afterschool.org - Native American Owned Organization Committed to Empowering Native American Communities

Afterschool.org was founded by a dedicated Native American leader, Manuel Zavala

Manuel Zavala is a member of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo. The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo ("the Pueblo") is a U.S. federally recognized Native American tribe and sovereign nation. The Tribal community known as "Tigua" established Ysleta del Sur in 1682.

Afterschool.org is committed to empowering the next generation of Native American students. This visionary organization was established with the core mission of providing comprehensive support to students. This includes aiming to bridge the gap in educational opportunities and resources available to Indigenous communities across the United States.

At the heart of Afterschool.org is a multifaceted approach to support that includes scholarship programs, mentorship initiatives, cultural preservation projects, and various student-led educational initiatives. The scholarship programs are designed to alleviate financial barriers that many  students face, offering them the chance to pursue higher education in fields ranging from STEM to the arts and humanities. Beyond financial assistance, Afterschool.org places a strong emphasis on mentorship, connecting students with Native American professionals and academics who can offer guidance, support, and inspiration.

Afterschool.org initiatives are grounded in the principle of community empowerment. By supporting education and cultural preservation, Afterschool.org not only aids individual students but also contributes to the strengthening of Native American communities as a whole. Through its dedicated work, the organization stands as a beacon of hope and progress, demonstrating the powerful impact of education in fostering understanding, respect, and prosperity among all cultures including Native American peoples.
