Since its inception in 2000, Lights On Afterschool has become a cornerstone of the afterschool movement, highlighting the unique learning opportunities these programs provide. At Lights On Afterschool, students will engage in exciting activities designed to highlight the value of afterschool programs. These programs help students explore new skills, build confidence, and foster a love for learning outside of the traditional classroom setting.

This celebration is not just about recognizing the amazing afterschool programs already in place—it’s also a call to action. Millions of students across the country need access to high-quality afterschool opportunities, and this event aims to raise awareness of that need.

Afterschool.org was created by the Student Hires team to establish a hollistic network of partners who emphasize student-centered and community-centered approaches to afterschool programs. These programs are available to K-12 schools and districts within the Afterschool.org network. Each afterschool program launched through Afterschool.org is supported and maintained by Student Hires staff. Through a student-led workforce, Student Hires Afterschool Programs deliver overwhelming value for school sites, their families, and students. At Luv 2 Play Chino, Student Hires facilitates various afterschool programs, activities, and more.
